Fabric
Examples of where you might find fabric:
- Conveyor belts
- Fabric gloves
- Reusable cloth bags
- Tablecloths and coverings
Notes about the surface:
- Conveyor belts with metal stitching cannot be cleaned and sanitized because the stitches are made of soft metal and will corrode.
- Other types of fabric such as gloves, bags, tablecloths, and coverings should be laundered frequently.
- If laundering is not possible, remove surface dirt and insert a single-use plastic liner or other protective material between the fabric surface and the produce as a risk reduction strategy.
- Consider replacing items that cannot be laundered and dried with items that can be laundered and dried or with materials that can be cleaned and sanitized.
- Store fabric in a clean, dry location up off the ground that is protected from pests and other contaminants.
