About Daredevil

Daredevil Brewing is a production brewery located in the Speedway neighborhood of Indianapolis. We started the brewery in 2012 with one year round beer, Lift Off IPA, which quickly grew to become one of the best selling craft beers across Indiana.

While we are most known for our flagship Lift Off IPA we also have one of the most diverse lager programs in the United States. We have a huge love for German-style and traditional lagers and we produce a wide range of beer styles.

Our beers are distributed across all of Indiana with our local distribution partner Craftroads Beverage and found at our brewery taproom and our second location, Daredevil Hall, located on the near north side of Indianapolis.

Also, Indianapolis is one of the most affordable metropolitan areas in the United States with a cost of livig index of ~83.

About the position

We are seeking self-driven, passionate, technically oriented, quality focused and safety conscious individuals for our brewing  team. We have multiple opportunities available at different levels of experiece. 

Our  brewers  are  reliable, multifaceted  team players  capable  of  performing  any  brewery task from receiving raw materials to packaging. The Lead Brewer/Staff Brewer will bring a passion to the program and lead by example as well as have the opportunity to help drive the beer brewing program. 

Our  brewers  work  within  a  structured  quality  system.  You  will  follow  recipes  and  SOPs  in  tandem  with  the  rest  of  the  brewing  team  to  repeatedly  produce  the  finest quality  artisan  ales  and  lagers.  You  will  take  ownership  of  all  tasks  on  the  brewery  schedule  on  a  day-to-day basis.  We’ll  provide  a  lot  of  continuing  education  and  invest  in  equipment  and  tools  that  will  allow  you  to  push  the  envelope  in  the  art  and  science  of  brewing.  You  must  be  able  to  follow  detailed  procedures  for  everything from brewing recipes to cleaning regimens and packaging. 

Compensation will be based on experience, and the Company strives to pay in the 75% or higher of industry averages based on annual Brewers Association surveys. We also offer a 401K with a 4% company match, 4 weeks of paid time off, and a sabbatical after each 5 years of employment.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute the necessary production duties including but not limited to wort production, fermentation management, filtration and finishing, and bright beer handling.
  • Ensure that all beer is produced to standards and specification by following recipes and procedures as set by Head Brewer and Director of Operations.
  • Collaborate with Sensory Quality Manager to ensure beer meets internal quality standards.
  • Alert Head Brewer immediately to any quality control issues.
  • Follow best practice and safety requirements dutifully.
  • Maintain brewing, cellaring, clarification and other related documentation in an organized and complete manner.
  • Clean and sanitize all equipment and work areas to maintain consistent beer quality.
  • Maintain healthy communication with team members.
  • Possess a well-rounded knowledge of brewing and beer styles.
  • Willingness to participate in promotional events as needed while representing the company and the brand in a professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of five or more years of professional brewing experience in a production brewery
  • Preferred experience in a brewery with 5000 to 20000 bbls of annual production
  • Experience with ale and lager production
  • Brewer Certification or Fermentation Science education preferred but not required
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
  • Motivated by a passion for the brewing and creating quality beer
  • Comprehensive understanding of brewing science, production, and cellar operations
