The Family Jones Distillery in Loveland is looking for the right person with some production or industrial experience who is ready to take the next step up into distilling. We are not looking for an expert in distilling or brewing, but an understanding of fundamental brewery and distillery processes is preferred. This is a full-time, salaried distiller position at one of Colorado's premier craft distilleries and a great foot in the door at a fast-growing, exciting brand. Distillers generally have a four-day schedule that can be flexible to periodically accommodate long weekends and travel. Compensation will start at $40,000/year for the an individual with the right experience and attitude.

DESCRIPTION
A member of the distilling staff at The Family Jones is responsible for operating the mash cooker, still, and blending equipment as necessary to take a batch from raw ingredients to a ready-to-package state, per the existing Standard Operating Procedures, as well as assist in packaging operations in a pinch. As a part of a growing production facility, they must also be constantly seeking ways to improve speed, efficiency, and safety. While we strive to maintain a fun and friendly environment, all employees must also help set the tone within the company with a high level of professional conduct and attitude.

Requirements

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate mash cooker, still, blending equipment, bottler and labeler, and accompanying equipment.
• CIP of cooker, fermenters and still.
• Complete necessary paperwork for all activities.
• Regularly communicate with lead distiller on projects and issues.
• Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.
• Basic light mechanical repairs to equipment when necessary.
• Assist in improving procedures.

REQUIREMENTS
• Work effectively with the lead distiller, head distiller, packaging manager, and other production staff to meet production needs.
• Operate forklift and other heavy machinery.
• Communicate well, both written and verbal.
• Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
• Work in a team environment.
• Work independently with minimal direct supervision and an eye on thoroughness and quality.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and organization.
• High school diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). College degree preferred.
• Experience in industrial environment preferred.
• Professional experience in brewing, distilling, or other fermentation-related work preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
• Able to stand for long periods of time (up to 10-12 hours per day).
• Able to lift materials up to 55 lbs. repeatedly.
• Able to work in wet, tight, or cramped spaces.
• Able to work in an environment with high noise levels.
• Able to work with hazardous chemicals.
• Able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (boots, gloves, apron, eye protection, etc.)
• Exposure to hot fluids.
• Exposure to live steam.
• Exposure to pressurized transfer lines.
• Exposure to particulate atmospheres.
• Exposure to extremely variable temperature levels.
• Wet, slippery floors.
• Wet clothing.
• Exposure to carbon dioxide.
• Performing job with and around moving machinery.
