Chokecherries (Prunus virginiana) are pea-sized fruits that grow in clusters on shrubs or small trees. The leaves are 1½ - 4 inches long and the flowers are white and fragrant. The mature fruit is dark red to black color.
CAUTION: If you are unable to positively identify chokecherries, check with your local state Extension office or wild plant expert before consuming and/or preserving!
